Poppy Ensemble

I am very, very proud to be able to bring you my 1st card as a member of the
Design Team at Janey’s Digi Designs.

I have known Jane for a long while now through blogging. She is a very talented card maker and when said she wanted to start her own gardening business I was absolutely delighted for her. She had the courage to follow her dreams and I really do admire her for that. She is very witty and her blog posts are always very entertaining J

She announced recently that she was going to start designing digis inspired by her garden work I was very proud of her and said I would be interested in being on her DT if she wanted me. (to be honest I was more like holding both hands up really high schoolgirl stylee hoping she would pick me….)

When she formally invited me I was doing a happy dance and squealing. I love flowers, don’t necessarily know what they all are but I love them. They are so versatile and can be used for lots of different occasions. They also come in lots of different colours enabling me to use lots of pretty papers, my favourite crafting tool J

So for my very 1st card may I present to you my Poppy Ensemble. I have used the Icelandic Poppy (Single) and popped it inbetween 2 of the Icelandic Poppy Seed Head’s which have been flipped to produce a mirror image to frame the central flower.

I have used my Promarkers and Flexmarkers to shade them in. The seed heads are in orange and red, not sure if that is the colour they really are but it looked nice to vary the colours and it’s nice to be able to use artistic license!

I have used sketch #2 by From the Heart for the layout. The panel suited my ensemble perfectly. I layered the image on offcuts of black and red card to provide thin matting layers around the outside.

I used some new pretty papers called J'adore by First Editions from Dovecraft. The base of the card is covered with the pretty damask design and then I cut a semi circle from the spotty paper which has a very subtle glittery shine to the spots. I distressed the edges with scissors but I am sure it cried (maybe it was me?) I cannot bear to scruff up pretty papers, I think it hurts me too much!
The lace is a gorgeous Prima crocheted one which I have almost used up. I have added a heart brad to balance up the punched heart trim along the edge of the image. Finally an old rub on sentiment and my card is complete.
I do hope this card has demonstrated that you can very easily join complimentary images together and create something that looks different to the original design.
The images can be purchased from the Etsy store. For inspiration please pop over to the blog and Facebook page where our very talented designers will be regularly showcasing these amazing images.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – A5
Paper – J'adore First Edtions pad by Dovecraft
Tools - Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers, Martha Stewart punch
Embellishments – Papermania rub on & Brad, Prima lace trim
Techniques - Punching

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges (in Alphabetical Order):-
