Over at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges we have a new challenge today

Remembrance / Veteran’s Day

For my project I have used the beautiful Poppy which you get in 3 formats for only $2. It is such a versatile image suitable for many occasions but especially for this special time where we remember those that fought for us.

I was brought up to always be respectful of my elders, always wore my poppy and watched the Remembrance Day parade on the TV. It is such a solemn occasion but so very important to remember the people who were not lucky enough to make it home like both my Grandads did. Of course today people are still fighting and we are losing too many brave people in incidents all over the world L

I use my Promarkers and Flexmarkers to colour the image, really concentrating on shading like you would have in a real poppy I used a pretty die from Marianne’s Creatibles to cut out the image and distressed the edges with an inkpad.

The papers are by First Edition and I used 2 from different pads. The Leaf one was nice and understated for the background and the floral one in the foreground picks the colour from the poppy. I layered this paper onto some scrap card to provide definition. The ribbon is a lovely velvet one, you just have to keep stroking it J

I added some mulberry paper poppies, a red bow that has been recycled from a Christmas cracker and a sentiment from my stash.
