Daisy Doodles Challenge #52

At Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges we have a new challenge today

Use Red Ribbon and a Sentiment as your main Focus

*********************************************

For my card I have used the Love Sentiments sets which is currently free in the store. You get loads of sentiments in 3 formats. I have teamed it with two different papers from the Hearts n Roses pack. You get 5 papers for only $2.50. They are 300 DPI and 12” square. They can be easily resized to fit your project and are great as you only print the size that you need.  Head over to the Daisy Doodles Store to check them out !

I have used the latest sketch by Carly for the layout and printed 2 of the papers for the mats. The main scalloped card has a red mat from my scraps box. The sentiment has been distressed around the edges with a duster brush and a pale pink distress ink. This has been layered over and open heart paper from the digi set, and both have been tucked under a text and love heart paper which has been punched on the edges.

I have used one of my favourite ribbons which is red with white spots and a lovely lace edge. The lattice hearts are a Martha Stewart punch and I have raised my scraps box for reds and gold to layer over one another.

I have also decorated the inside with the leftovers of the entwined hearts, a sheer red and gold ribbon and some punched out hearts.

Myself and Choccy have used this gorgeous Naughty Nurse image from Barbara Jensen and I have had so much fun making my card and I’m really starting to enjoy using the more risqué images that Barbara creates J

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and cut out with some fine scissors. I cut a white mat with a Nestabilities label die and inked around the edges with a Tim Holtz distress pad and used one of my new duster brushes.

The base card is a sheet of blue card with a pale brown and blue spotty paper from the Daydream First Edition pad by Dovecrafts. I used an offcut of a leather embossed blue card and trimmed the edge with a Martha Stewart punch.

I added 3 blue buttons for decoration and the sentiment is from Digi Darla Designs matted onto another scrap of cardstock.

This week I am using a love image from Hope Jacare Doodles called Heart Wreath. I had intended to make it into a valentine card but found once it was coloured that it had a yearning to be a Christmas card. OMG, my 1st Christmas card and it is only January!!

Anyhow, the image was coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. There is a 2nd decoupaged layer of hearts and these have been covered with Crystal Laquer so look like shiny buttons. I cut this into a circle and used Distress Ink and one of those bristle brushes to stipple around the edges and bring the colour into the image. I also used this to go distress around the edge of the scalloped card blank.

The paper and decorative strip are from a traditional paper pack from Papermania. I had some great buys from The Range as a lot of the Christmas stuff was half price last week so had a bit of a bargain spend from some Christmas money J

The embellishments inside the wreath are some little felt stockings and a gift which were from a pack of assorted Christmas theme embellishments from Poundland. Sentiment is from my stash

Daisy Doodles #51 Anything Goes

At Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges we have a new challenge today

Anything Goes

*********************************************
For my card I have used this cute image of Sidney the Koala. You will receive it in 3 formats for only $2.  Head over to the Daisy Doodles Store to check them it out !

I coloured the Koala with Promarkers & Flexmarkers using the blender to pen to add some stippling to the fur and some longer tufts on his ears. I added a second layer for his head and decoupaged it using 3d foam. I love his little adorable face J

The image is matted onto a scrap of brown card and I used some handmade paper which has flocked leaves on it for the background. As Sidney is hugging the tree I thought a sentiment featuring the word hug would be appropriate and used a ticket that was a freebie from SGT Stamper.

When I was younger my maternal Grandad gave me a real Koala which he had brought back from Australia when he was in the Navy. It had been stuffed and I loved to touch the fur as it was so soft. I guess as kid I never realised it was wrong to have a real stuffed animal and wouldn’t dream of doing so today. I would much rather see a real live one than a stuffed one, and maybe one day I would be lucky enough to hold one…..

CDAC PC10 Beary Sweet Winter

It’s Round 10 of the Progressive Challenge at CDAC  and we have some lovely

Bringing In The New Year

themed images for this round. Team A have the pleasure in bringing you some gorgeous samples for the images for this round.

My card is using a cute image called Beary Sweet Winter from Digi’s by Phooka.

I have combined 3 digital images together to make this card. I used a previous freebie Fireworks design by Anne Fenton for the background, placed the cute bear in front and used a sentiment stamp from Shannon’s Sentiments adding the 2012 with a font in the graphics programme. I love the flexibility you have with digis and that you can combine images to make something unique for your own cards.

The image is coloured with Promarkers and I have used a clear Sakura glitter pen on the stars, adding lots of star shaped and small gems from Papermania in clear and blue.

I have used a sheet of pearlescent card for the base card, adding a piece of metallic card with embossed silver stars. The image is matted onto some more card and raised on 3d foam. The holographic stars have been in my stash for years and I threaded some metal brads from Papermania through, adding them to the top of the card to look like they are part of the fireworks.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year, I hope that 2012 has started off well for you and will bring you much happiness and good health.

****************************************

If you have taken part in the last challenge you will be receiving your images to work with for this part. If however you didn't enter all is not lost. For the paltry sum of only $1 you can buy back into the challenge and you will receive the images.

The deadline to enter your cards is 31st January. For all details on this challenge, the rules and how it works please pop over to this thread at the CDAC

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-

Myself and Choccy have used this gorgeous Baby Sleeping image from Sylvie Stamps and I have made my card suitable for a baby girl. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers.

I covered my card blank with a new paper from the Papermania capsule collection that came in the new goody bag. I loved all the different pink papers and thought it would be perfect for this gorgeous image. I raised it from the main card on 3d foam squares.

The mat has been cut from an offcut of Cloud Nine paper from Fiskars and I used a strip of white card, punched with a Fiskars border punch and cut a strip of the striped paper that is from the same Cloud Nine baby girl pack. The ribbon is self adhesive and I used and embroidered pink bow from my stash. The 2 hearts and the sentiment are gel stickers.
