From The Heart March Progressive Freebie

I absolutely love Faith Skrdla’s images and try whenever possible to take part in the Progressive Freebie challenge over at From The Heart Stamps. This month we were given the fabulous Hamlet PigWit set Think Spring. I adore piggies, butterflies and pretty flowers so this set is just perfect for me. There is an Irish based image and lots of sentiments too. Lucky old me J

I have used the current sketch at I{heart} Sketches for the layout.
The image is coloured using Promarkers and Flexmarkers and mounted onto a die cut shape from a Nestabilities Lacey Squares set. Following the sketch layout I have used 2 co-ordinating spotty papers for the background and then cut a circle of red cardstock to mat the image.
I added the sentiment in the bottom of the card and some Prima flowers and gems to balance out the top corner.

Unfortunately the unexpected passing of my Husband’s Grandmother has caused my crafting time this month to be severely curtailed so I am later than I hoped getting this card made. Hoping not to be so late next month and can’t wait to see what we get to play with next month.

Thankyou Faith for your generosity in running these challenges and providing us with such gorgeous images.

Materials Used in this Project are as follows:-
Card size – A5
Paper – First Edition pads

From The Heart Progressive Challenge

I absolutely love Faith Skrdla’s images and try whenever possible to take part in the Progressive Freebie challenge over at From The Heart Stamps. This month we were given the Birthday Candle Birdbrain set which came with oodles of sentiments. This card has been made with a friend in mind who has a quirky sense of humour, is about 10 years older than me and we have known for many years.

I have used the current sketch at I{heart} Sketches for the layout.
The image is coloured using Promarkers and Flexmarkers and mounted onto a scrap of black card which is recycled from embossing folder packaging. I mounted the image and the sentiment on the same way and added 3d foam for dimension.

The card front is covered with a paper from the Birdsong pack from Papermania. The yellow spotty one is from Craftwork Cards. Used some thin green card for punching along the top edge and added some gorgeous spotty ribbon that was part of a prize I had recently from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Finally I added some red buttons with yellow waxed cord knotted through them.

Eventhough February is the shortest month I have been better organised than I was in January so not finishing it off right at the last minute. That’s progress compared to last month!

Materials Used in this Project are as follows:-
Card size – A5
Digi Image & Sentiment – Birthday Candle Birdbrain by From The Heart Stamps
Paper – Birdsong by Papermania & Craftwork Cards
Tools – Fiskars Treading Water punch
Embellishments – Buttons & Twine
Techniques – Punching, recycling

Kitten & Heart

I absolutely love Faith Skrdla’s images and try whenever possible to take part in the Progressive Freebie challenge over at From The Heart Stamps. This month we all get the chance to take part as this cute Kitten and Heart image take from the Caught Your Heart set is a freebie at the moment. Thank you Faith J

I had coloured the image a couple of weeks ago and just got round to making the card yesterday. This gave me the opportunity to check out the latest sketch at I {heart} card sketches, something I haven’t taken part in for some time due to my loss of mojo and getting my health back on track. It was nice to have a day when I made 5 cards and actually enjoyed what I used to love with a passion.

I had already die cut the image and the sketch had a circle on it but I think I managed to incorporate the sketch in my layout pretty successfully.

The front of the card is covered with the heart patterned card which has been recycled from a Papermania embossing folder packaging. I loved that it has a small repeated design with subtle colours. The papers for the banner have been rescued from my overflowing scraps box. The sentiment panel is from Craftwork Cards mounted onto some of the red paper and finally the heart is a wooden heart that has been in my stash since I started making cards 12 years ago!

I am looking forward to taking part in the February challenge and I hope not to leave it quite so late in the month to make my card.

Materials Used in this Project are as follows:-
Card size – 6” Square
Paper – Recycled packaging and scraps from box
Sentiment – Craftwork Cards
Tools – Nestabilities Romantic Rectangles die
Embellishments – Wooden Heart
Techniques – Diecutting, Recycling
