It’s wedding season and I have 2 wedding receptions to go to shortly so what a fabulous excuse to make wedding cards. I’m a romantic little devil and few things make me happier than seeing people I love and care about getting married to one another. This card is for a very dear friend of ours Martin who we have known for 20 years and his good lady Seona. We have met her only once but she is lovely and they are happy together.

I have used this pretty image Lovely Flowers WeddingHorseshoe from Hope Jacare Doodles and coloured it with purples and lilacs which were the colours on the invite. I have cut the image out and matted it onto some purple cardstock for contrast.

I have made a circle shaped side step card from a tutorial by Beccy Muir at Beccy’s Place. This is the first card like this I have made but Beccy’s instructions were very clear and easy to follow.
I covered the front and card steps with paper from a wedding pack by Dovecraft that I have had for years and years.

The image was mounted on thin foam pads and then I added embellishments to the other side to even the weight distribution. The pearl spray is from some  wedding embellishments I have had for about 9 years. The heart punch is one of my faves and I have wrapped the stem of a flower around a kebabs stick and looped through it. 2 more flowers have been added on the steps. I use a punch to create some pretty butterflies and added some gems to finish off.

In the effort to get ahead on my Christmas cards this week I have used Holly by Hope Jacare Doodles and made my first centre step card. I have made side step ones before but never a centre one. I am very pleased with how it turned out, made a rough template in paper and it worked so I am sure I will be using this design again J

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and boy was I glad I had the fine tips on these colours as the tips of the holly leaves, necklace and hair tendrils are all so intricate. I created a decoupage layer with the skirt and that was some fiddly cutting out but the results were worth it.

The papers are from a Craftwork Cards magazine freebie. I was careful to cut the patterned paper so that it was symmetrical, it seemed important as the whole focus is in the middle.

The holly on the sentiment strip is from a sheet of paper that is in a Forever Friends pad which I have added some red stickles berries to. Simple gems and a sentiment complete this card. I do love the intricacy of the image, there is so much detail in the designs from Hope Jacare and they are a pleasure to work with.

For my project this week I have made another 3D item. I had so much fun last week with my flower vase I thought I would make something other than a card with this lovely image, In The Frame Flourish Heart by Hope Jacare Doodles.

I printed the image onto red cardstock. I wasn’t too sure how it would come out but it is a very crisp image and all I needed to do colouring wise was use some glitter gel pens to colour the leaves and hearts.

I frehand cut the heart out on the outside edge and then used this as a template to cut a back section in red card and a chipboard centre to stiffen and stabilise my frame. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Design, printed onto white card and coloured with the red glitter gel pen.

I assembled the frame by mounting the front section on 3d foam squares, adding this to the sentiment and layering the chipboard and back section in place. I added a small loop of ribbin onto the top and did a final trim so all layers matched up. I then distressed the edges with a small black ink pad and added the ribbon rose as a decoration at the top.

As the UK is actually having some proper wintery weather with deep snow I hope everyone stays warm and safe and what a perfect excuse to do some crafting J

Claire from Hope Jacare has created a very special image for this blog hop and named her Oona Owl in honour of our intrepid DT Co-ordinator Choccy. I am especially priviledged to have been the first person to work with this beautiful image and hope I have done it justice.

I used a colour swatch from Outlawz as inspiration for the colours using green, dark brown and grey as my main colours and adding lots of shading to add depth. I of course used my favourite Promarkers and Flexmarkers and adding some subtle glitter accenst with a Sakura clear glitter pen. I used a Nerstabilities die to cut the image and a mat in dark brown card.

Using a sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday for the layout I covered the card blank with co-ordinating strips of paper from First Editions paper pad, using brown grosgrain ribbon to cover the joins.

For embellishment I used some lovely swirls cut from a Sizzlits die and rubber stamp combo, added some glitter pen faux stitches. The pretty flowers are Primas and the button centre completes the card.
