This week we are creating using the theme of Favourite Things. I used this gorgeous image of Winter Robin from IkeSart. My favourite things are pretty papers, flowers, twinkly things and Christmas so this little robin red breast was perfect. We are very lucky that we get robins visiting our garden quite regularly and they are very inquisitive little birds that come right up to me sometimes if I stay still. I love animals and nature and it is always a complete honour to see such things especially living in a big city. Sometimes you just need to stop for a while, stay still and watch all the wonderful things that happen around you.

My little robin is coloured with Promarkers and then cut out with an Oval Fiskars shape template. I then cut some matting layers from gold and green cardstock and added foam squares to lift off the paper.

The papers are from a magazine supplement that came free with a magazine. I really liked the shaped of the green patterned panel that was part of a multi patterned sheet so layered this on a plainer polka dot and grid pattern paper. The sentiment is from the same pack mounted onto green card and used a corner rounder punch to trim.

Finally I actually USED some of my favouritest Prima flowers that are twinkly fabric poinsettias with a holly leaf and an American Crafts gem brad to hold it all together.

Happy Blooms

The current sketch 008 at I {Heart} Card Sketches is a fab layout and I can see me using it again. I opted not to use the circle element as it covered my pretty flowers and we can’t be having that can we?

The image is a digi from Mami Doodles called Happy Blooms, I just adore the happy smiley faces on the flowers , they are just so cheerful, just like sunflowers are to me J The image was coloured in ages ago with Promarkers so it was nice to actually make a card with it.

I covered the card blank with a sheet of paper by Fancy Pants that was from a magazine freebie. I used more freebie papers for the yellow squares and matted onto some scrap orange card. The ribbon is recycled from a box of chocolates, the embossed flowers are Prima’s with Craftwork Cards Candi dots. Finally I added a sentiment from my stash and some small glittery butterfly stickers I have had for more years than I care to remember…..

Having just come back from a day out at Birmingham Botanical Gardens I can honestly say colourful flowers make me happy, especially the nice fragrant ones like Jasmine, and we saw some orchids that were just divine, some really gorgeous little birdies in an aviary and about 3 different wedding parties. They have an amazing array of roses so I think we shall have to go back in the summer when they are in bloom.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – 6” x 6”
Image – Happy Blooms by Mami Doodles
Papers – Fancy Pants
Embellishments – foam pads, Prima Flowers, Craftwork Cards Candi, Ribbon, butterfly stickers

Claire from Hope Jacare has created a very special image for this blog hop and named her Oona Owl in honour of our intrepid DT Co-ordinator Choccy. I am especially priviledged to have been the first person to work with this beautiful image and hope I have done it justice.

I used a colour swatch from Outlawz as inspiration for the colours using green, dark brown and grey as my main colours and adding lots of shading to add depth. I of course used my favourite Promarkers and Flexmarkers and adding some subtle glitter accenst with a Sakura clear glitter pen. I used a Nerstabilities die to cut the image and a mat in dark brown card.

Using a sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday for the layout I covered the card blank with co-ordinating strips of paper from First Editions paper pad, using brown grosgrain ribbon to cover the joins.

For embellishment I used some lovely swirls cut from a Sizzlits die and rubber stamp combo, added some glitter pen faux stitches. The pretty flowers are Primas and the button centre completes the card.

Falloween Cat

It's Thursday night pop pickers and that can only mean Top of the Pops... how many of us of a certain age (in the UK) will remember that eh? But in my case it means arse to the wire to get my Designed 2 Delight freebie made into a card. It has been coloured for days but unfortunately real life tends to get in the way of cardmaking and for some reason husbands need to be fed you know, I mean what's that all about?

Anyhoo, as I do not do Halloween I decided to make this likkle puddy cat into a card for a friend who has got a card Tink who is a proper fluffy ginger tom, thus he was the inspiration for colouring the cat in the gorgeous shades of Pumpkin and Spice with my Promarkers.

I have used a Kraft base, used the funky square paper from Dovecraft Animal antics pad from their First Edition range. The brown squared paper is a magazine freebie which I made a disasterous attempt at stamping in white ink on and has been consigned to my scraps box. This is matted onto white card from the 'scraps of white card box'. I have used a Fiskars punch to make use of some leftover Kraft strips behind the puddy cat and he has been mounted onto 3d foam.

I had used the latest sketch from Cutie Sunday for the layout so added some flowers in the relevant places made from Prima Daisies and Wild Orchid Cherry Blossoms with some gold Stickles in the middles. Last but not least the sentiment from my stash has been matted onto some brown card and raised up on 3d foam.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-

Card Size – 6” Square
Image – Falloween Cat by Designed 2 Delight
Sketch – Cutie Sunday
Paper – Dovecraft for main square paper and all other papers and cardstock are from scraps.
Sentiment – from stash
Embellishments – prima Daisies, Wild Orchid Cherry Blossoms, Stickles glitter glue
Tools – Scissors, 3d foam, Fiskars Treading water Punch, Nestabilities Die
Techniques – Distressing with small inkpad, punching, die cutting

Ladybug Bloom

OMG, this is a first for me. Not only have I completed and uploaded by card for the Delightful Inspiration challenge before Thursday night...... but I have actually managed to complete a whole month's worth of the challenges Wooo Hoo !!!

Faith hadn't drawn a new image for last week's entrants so we were given a voucher for $2.50 off any image of our choice in the shop. I was really pleased as the image I chose was Ladybug Bloom and I had missed out on this in a previous month and absolutely adored the image. I mean it is so me, looks great in bright colours, layered up 5 times with 3d foam and I even drew a cute face on the ladybird :) Another bonus was it was only $2 so I put the extra towards another digi. Thank you Faith, I love you :) xxx

Anyhoo, this gorgeous little beauty was made using a bright (and i do mean sunglasses bright) orange cardblank from a Let's Make Cards pack. The glittery DP is from DCWV. It is onle of those little mat stacks and it was the perfect fit, no cutting required. The image and sentiment have been matted onto a scrap from the same pad which is a red and white diagonal pattern.

The image of course has been coloured with Promarkers. I layered up the flower and the little ladybird and drew her smile on, I mean how can she not smile when she has such a pretty flowery dress on?

To finish I added a spotty ribbon and some Prima flowers with a bead cap and a gem brad. This is just a complete Made By Mandy signature card, bright, bold colourful and cute.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size - 7" x 5"
Image - Ladybug Bloom by Designed 2 Delight
Paper - DCWV Citrus Mat Stack
Sentimnet - Red Hot Bed
Embellishments - Prima flowers, American Crafts gem brad, Ribbon
Tools - 3D Foam & Scissors, Promarkers
Techniques - Decoupage
