365 Cards Day 137 & Some Good News

Hello everybody peeps !

I'm back with a card (can you believe I woke up thinking about the layout of this card? Is that sad or inspired - I don't know ?

But.... 1st things first. I have some absolutely fabulous news. Thankyou, thankyou and a milliion times thankyou to all the wonderful people who wished me luck with my interviews. I am thrilled to announce that I got the job that I REALLY wanted and I start on Monday.

Wooooooo Hooooooo !!!

I'm just a bit blooming excited :) I feel like a massive weight has been lifted and I am just so happy that I made a good impression at both interviews, but got the job that I really wanted. I'm going to be the office administrator in a small company that imports curtains. My previous experience of running a dedicated curtain department at Allied Carpets for years has stood me in good stead, also the fact that I have 20 years experience of being a good office all rounder. It will be ideal for me as it will be busy and I'll get involved in lots of things. Most important of all I'm looking forward to earning some money again so I can indulge in some 6 x 6" Basic Grey packs. LOL

Anyhoo, back to the details on the card. I have been able to include the following challenges into this little number :-
I started off with a DCWV textured card blank and cut the front off. I cut a piece of acetate and attached to the front with 3 black HOTP brads sticking to the positioning of the embellishments on the Cuttlebug sketch. The Cuttlebug textile embossing folder was used on a piece of white card. The corners were cut off using a circle punch. I added black gems to the corners from Paperchase.

The cat is a leather Sizzix diecut I bought off Ebay some time ago. I added a silve tinkling bell to thin green ribbon and some green gems for eyes. I used a white gel pen to highlight the legs. A black velvet ribbon has been added for a bit more texture. The red flower is a sequin and another gem added to the centre.

The footprints were added directly to the acetate. I used a punch to make a template in paper and drew through it with a Sharpie permanent pen.

I seem to be on a roll with acetate cards this week. I think I have been inspired by the DT at 365 cards as they have been using many of the Shortcuts products this week. With 7 chances to win a prize I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Well it has been a good week so far :)

365 Cards Day 94 & Paperminutes # 65

OMG, another green card from me, will wonders never cease? I really like how this one has turned out too....am I converting to green???

This card was made for Day 94's challenge at 365 Cards. You had to make a card inspired by images from an advertisement. It was for a wedding, using colours green balck and white and had damask designs in it.

I have used this weeks sketch # 65 from Paperminutes. It is a really simple layout which has enabled the papers and elements to stand out.

The green paper and ribbon are from HOTP. The black and white paper is from Clare Curds Signature Range by Papermania. The scrolly frame is from a wedding pack of papers that came with Issue 4 of Creative Cardmaking magazine. The epoxy sticker is from a craft pack that came from Poundland.

I was tempted to put some small gems on the paper but decided against it as I thought it might detract from the simple design. I am trying to learn the theory of 'less is more', I said trying........

Just popping round to Paul's Grandad's in a little while as he is bring brought home from hospital in an ambulance. After 9 weeks inside he is so looking forward to coming home. He's still got to have 2 operations but after almost losing him twice today is a very happy day for us all.

STOP PRESS !!

This card was nominated as one of the 3 Cards of The Week at 365 Cards, I am so chuffed :)

365 Cards Day 80 & Paperminutes 63

I was having a good mooch around the blog of Crafty Hazelnut who is a regular at 365 Cards and she had a lot of links to challenge blogs that were new to me. It's amazing just how many of them there are and I bet there are loads and loads that I don't know about.

Anyhoo, this card is from a sketch for challenge 63 at Paperminutes which I have rotated and todays challenge Day 80 over at 365 Cards to use plaid.

The backing paper is a freebie from Papercraft Inspirations magazine. The circle is a Cuttlebug folder and I have applied a light layer of in over the text. The ribbon and the centre panel are from the same freebie sheet but I have added them to a bright pink card and left a small border. The panel has been embellished by adding gel pen spots to the scallops and 2 buttons. There were printed ones but I wanted to add real ones for a bit of dimension. There seemed to be a bit too much white at the top so I added a gem from Paperchase just to break it up a bit.
