This week my card is using this gorgeous image Fuchsia & Hummingbird from Delicious Doodles. It is such a pretty image and was crying out to be coloured.

Using Promarkers and Flexmarkers I used shades of pinks and purples to colour the bulk of the image. I printed out a second layer for the hummingbird so I could decoupage it and trimmed into the wings so they are layered up with different heights of 3d foam.
I used an old sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp for the layout and used this to position my papers which are from the Woodland Friends collection by Docrafts . The ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment is a rub in from Royal & Langnickel. Finally I added some stickles glitter glue to the end of the stamens.

The sentiment is particularly poignant as when I saw this image it immediately reminded me of one of the most amazing nature experiences I have ever had. When we went to the USA in 2001 part of the holiday was in LA. We went to Santa Monica on the bus and were walking towards the beach past residential houses, turned a corner and came face to face with a tiny hummingbird sipping the nectar from Hibiscus flowers growing amongst a hedge in someone’s front garden. It was absolutely fascinating to be so close to this little creature, you could hear it’s wings flapping so many times and it skittered from one flower to another and wasn’t in the least bit bothered that I was only a foot away from it. Even after so many years this memory brings me so much happiness and I am sure it will be something that will remain in my soul forever.

Mandy what a delightful image, and beautifully vibrant, just like your pretty hummingbird, too. Love the "dotted" background panels - even the flowered panel looks like "flowery dots". A great sentiment - I wondered how you applied it until seeing it was a rub on. Looks fantastic! And also appreciated your memory. We lived in Santa Monica, and it is a beautiful locale. Now I am in Florida and have created a haven for 2 kinds of hummers. I never tire of marveling when they visit my garden. hugs, de

What a beautiful image. Hummingbirds are the most amazing little creatures, aren't they? I think they show how versatile and creative our God is. They also show His love for beauty. Your card showcases this image so well. Thanks for sharing this card with us too at Word Art Wednesday.
