This week I have used Nutcracker from Stitchy Stamps. I have made this Christmas card for a special friend whos is from South Africa and works with my hubby. He is going home to his Mum’s for Christmas and has bought a large wooden figure of the Nutcracker to take back with him. Now I have to confess that even though it is regarded to be a Christmas classic I have never seen the ballet ordid not even know what the srory was. I have done some research and discovered that one of my most favourite pieces of music ‘The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy’ by Tchaikovsky is from the ballet so it has inspired me to want to see it somehow or another.

Anyhoo, I decided to make a spring card and used a template from Splitcoast Stampers as I have only made one of these style of cards before. Not sure why really as they do look really effective. I coloured the image with Promarkers & Flexmarkers and stayed in traditional colours like I had seen on the tinterweb.

The papers are from Dovecraft Back To Basics Christmas. I have used this loads over the last few weeks, there are lots of lovely designs in it.  I have used one of my new Die'sire dies from Crafters Companion for the sentiment mat which was cut from a scrap of burgundy cardstock. It has lots of tiny holes and I was very impressed with how sharp the cut was.

To finish off I added a sentiment from my stash, some fabric leaves and peel off sticker holly leaves and lots of sparkly gem ‘berries’ from a very old K & Co Christmas kit.

This is the last week of normal challenges for us as we will be taking a break over Christmas. New week something really exciting is happening as we are having our very first Blog Hop. I do hope you will join in the fun!
