For this challenge I have used this serene image from Gingerloft Digi Stamps called Rustic Bench. I can just imagine siting on such a bench listening to the tweety birds, it looks like a very restful place to be J

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, added a couple of small glittered butterfly stickers and cut it out using a Nestabilities die. I created a mat with a larger die and some dark green paper from a Costco folder.  The floral paper is from a First Edition pad called Boho Chic. I adore the papers in oranges, browns and greens.

I have used some handmade paper string to create a crinkled layer and made a bow from this and some raffia. The ribbon has been recycled from a box of chocolates, the raffia from  a plant label has a couple of metal charms tied into it. The sentiment is included in the download and has been cut into a banner shape and curled up at the edges.

With all the awful weather we have been having lately let’s hope this challenge heralds a change in the weeks to come J

Daisy Doodles Challenge #58

Over at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges we have a new challenge today

One For The Boys

*********************************************

For my card I have used the Private Ryan set which has a postcard, camo tent and little soldier in 3 formats for only $3. Head over to the Daisy Doodles Store to check these out and all the other great digi’s that are available !

I coloured in the image using Promarkers & Flexmarkers and some metallic Promarkers for the tent pegs and pole and tufts of grass. I covered the front of my card with brown paper and used a very dark green, crumpled it up and inked the creases and distressed the edges by tearing and scuffing with the edge of my scissors.  I have used a shoe lace in a camo pattern as a manly version of ‘ribbon’ and created my own sentiment and die cut it using a Quickutz cookie cutter die, distressed the edges and mounted with 3d foam.

The sentiment is below and you are most welcome to download for yourself. It is in both JPG and PNG format and I would appreciate it if you use it you link back to me and leave me a comment so I can pop along and see your project.

I am really pleased with how this turned out. I am not normally very good with cards for men or boys but with the help of some fab images I think I’ve not done a bad job with this one J

It was my teamie Choccy’s turnto choose and image for us to work with and what a cutie we have for you this time. We have the gorgeous Daydream Girl by Gert at Digi Blessings and she is such a gorgeous little beauty. I am sure we all know a little girl who looks just like her.

In a very rare move for me I have used light pastel shades to colour the image using Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I have selected papers to match from the Spring Feast & Boho Chic First Edition pads by Dovecraft. There is a lovely assortment of papers, many with a subtle glitter sheen and I have added Stickles glitter glue to the centre of the flowers and the buzzy bee wings.

I have used a sketch from Craftings Life’s Pieces which has lots of intricate layers. Paper punches are Martha Stewart and I have done some distressing with scissors. I have purchased one of those paper scuffers but find for me that a pair of scissors works better….

I have added lots of Prima flowers, using one of the green ones to make leaves by simply cutting the petals apart. The centres are buttons, the textured ones were a fab bargain bag of vintage buttons that I got from a visit to a National Trust property when they had a fair on. The stick pin decoration I made from a pearl headed pin with beads and a butterfly from a bead decoration that I dismantled. The fluttery butterfly is a clear Papermania sticker placed on paper and cut out. I have just stuck it down in the middle and curled the wings. The sentiment was cut using a Marianne die as a template.

Daisy's Image Inspirations Simply Daisies

Over at

our challenges run fortnightly so on the off Wednesday the Designers will be creating with a specially selected digi from the Daisy Doodles Store.

The set we are working with today is Simply Daisies and it is available from the store at the very special price of COMPLETELY FREE!!. You get 2 designs of daisies both in and out of a vase in TIFF, PNG & JPG formats and it is the perfect image for a CAS style of card. The DT have made some smashing cards using these images.

I coloured the image with Promarkers & Flexmarkers and used my tiny scissors to cut it out and used tiny foam pads to raise it up. I have made a tent topper style of card for the very first time using a Kraft cardstock base and some yummy papers from a new First Edition pad by Dovecraft. I used a Nestabilities labels die to cut out the shapes and used a small ink pad to distress the edges for more definition. The lace and ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment panel is from a Lets Make Cards pack.

I hope you will pop over to the blog to see the lovely creations on there and please remember that you have until Sunday night to get your entries in for our Easter Challenge

CDAC #16 Camelia

It’s Round 16 of the Progressive Challenge at CDAC  and for this round

Something’s In The Air

We have some lovely mages from some fabulous creators. Team A have the pleasure in bringing you some gorgeous samples for the images for this round.

My card is using a fab image called Camelia from Wax Fruit Company

****************************************

When I first saw the image I wasn’t sure what a Camelia looked like so did a little Google search and soon realised it is one of my favourite flowers but didn’t realise what it was or how many varieties of it there are. I hope the colours I have chosen do this gorgeous design justice.

I have used the sketch from the latest challenge at A Gem of A Challenge and it allowed me to use lots of papers from the Summer Bloom collection by Papermania.  I used the soft green spotty paper to bring out the colour of the background on the image. I coloured with pinks and did lots of shading and blending around the petals.

I used a metallic gold Promarker for the stamens and added spots of Stickles gold glitter glue to the ends do they popped off. I used a Nestabilities die for the centre panel and Martha Stewart lattice and doily punches on the papers.

****************************************

If you have taken part in the last challenge you will be receiving your images to work with for this part. If however you didn't enter all is not lost. For the paltry sum of only $1 you can buy back into the challenge and you will receive the images.

The deadline to enter your cards is 30th April. For all details on this challenge, the rules and how it works please pop over to this thread at the CDAC
