Our new Teamie Tanya chose this fabulous image Ivy Fairy from Delicious Doodles to work with and of course she had to be green didn’t she? She is coloured I Promarkers and Flexmarkers in only a few colours as I wanted to keep it mainly green and Kraft throughout.

I chose the sketch by I {Heart} Card Sketches to work with for the layout as I wanted to use a new die for the frame which I thought would look very pretty with it. The image was cut into an oval but some areas protruded and were fussy cut, I think this is the out of the frame technique? I call it make the image fit the frame J

Anyhoo the papers are from First Edition, the Kraft is from my stash and the green trim on the edge is a self adhesive paper trim from Papermania. I added some Prima flowers and gem centres and a couple of glittery butterfly stickers. The sentiment is from COLORink Digital Stamps

Sea Turtle Kiss

Over at Delightful Inspiration {From the Heart} the progressive freebie image this month is a fabulous set Sea Turtle Beach which has 3 images and 3 sentiments, what an amazing gift! Thank you so much Faith.

I love the image of the 2 turtles kissing and opted to use this. I made a turtle sentiment to go with it and printed that on the image which I then cut out with a pretty nestabilities die.

The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. I matted it onto a scrap of blue card and then both patterned papers are by DCWV and have been previously cut into. Other than the card base all the papers are offcuts

If you would like this sentiment I have added it below in PNG and JPG. I would ask that you credit me and link back if you use it and please do not claim it as your own

I look forward to seeing next month’s image from Faith. Thank you so much for running these progressive challenges, they are so much fun.

A Rocking Birthday

Birdie Brown has a monthly challenge and is very generous with her freebies. This month we get to work with Rocking Doggie and the sentiment You Rock. They made the perfect partnership for an image from Di’s Digi Downloads that I bought to make a card for my Brother In Law. He has a drum kit and how often do you get a cute image with a drum kit?

I coloured the images and sentiment with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and added an extra decoupage layer with the little doggie and drum on the front image. The card from is covered with red paper form a magazine freebie. I added a panel of card from the Family Ties pad and wrapped some Airmal twine around it from Dovecraft. This panel is stuck down with thin 3d foam pads to allow for the thickness of the string underneath.

The image is matted onto some scrap card and then stuck down with more 3d foam. The sentiment panel is probably one of the very oldest embellishments I have from HOTP and it is embossed with gold foil on it. I know they were blooming expensive at the time, hence I’ve never used them.

The inside of the card has more of the same red paper and then the Rocking Doggie has been fussy cut and is rocking down a storm. The sentiment has been cut using a new Nestabilities D-lite die which is more ornate for small sentiments.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – A5
Sentiment – You Rock by Birdie Brown
Paper – Family Ties First Edition pad and the red is a freebie from a magazine
Tools - Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers, 3d foam, Nestabilities D lite die Labels 1
Embellishments – HOTP sentiment panel,  airmail twine by Dovecraft
Techniques – Die cutting, decoupage

I had coloured this fun image Busted by Stitchy Stamps in with Promarkers an Flexmarkers in traditional Christmas colours to match the paper pack I had chosen from Panda Bear Designs called Christmas Traditions. I had initially thought about doing an easel card but opted to make an octagonal shaped card as I have not made one of those before and thought the geometric shape would work with the checked paper and the striped. The striped paper was to go along the left hand side of the card but whilst playing with positioning decided it looked so much stronger the way I have placed it.

The image has been cut using a Nestabilities labels 25 die and I used a dry inkpad to distress the outside edges. The sentiment is a free digi from Bird’s Cards. I have used the dies from the new Petite Labels 1 D-Lites dies to cut the mat and sentiment and used the inside of the die to create a glittery red gel pen frame around the wording.

Finally I added some Prima glittery fabric poinsettia flowers secured with posh brads from American Crafts. Both these items have been coveted in my stash for a long time and I am proud of myself for actually using them J

I approached Kris to ask if she could come up with a design based on a hedgehog holding a banner into which you could pop a sentiment to suit the occasion. I had a particular need and just could not find the right image so Kris stepped into the breach J

One of my friends Sally is just an inspirational woman. She suffers the most awful pain with her neck and shoulder yet remains the most smiley person with something lovely to say about everyone. Her little son is the coolest kid with the same sunny disposition. She has started to run a sanctuary for hedgehogs in her back garden and of course it costs money and she relies on donations and a wonderful hubby who helps build sheds, websites, feeding and anything else required !

Sally asked me if I would make some cards for her to say thankyou to the people that donate to this amazing cause. I have offered to make some for free for her as a way of supporting her so I need to make it a reasonably cheap to produce style based on supplies that I have. I do have some hedgehog images but none were ‘perfect’ I have sent some sample images to her but this one is a surprise as it has been designed especially for her and me.

I have used a Craftwork Cards base and added papers from the Woodland Friends collection by Papemania. The image has been coloured with Promarkers and Flexmarkers. You have the option of the little boy or the little girl hedgie with  a flower in her hair. I of course chose the cute whimsical option J

I used some Kraft card to mat the image on using a Nestabilities Lacey Squares die. In hindsight I made the image a bit smaller than I will do in future so I added a frame around it with a fine tipped Letraset pen. There is also a coloured option to the image so this would make it quicker and easier to mass produce. I do however prefer to colour so will more than likely use my pens.

I just wanted to say a mahoosive thanks to Kris for designing this set for me. I am sure Sally will be overwhelmed when she see’s it .

Please pop over to visit her at Happyhogs Hegehog Rescue on Facebook and her website. If you have some pennies to spare she would I am sure appreciate any donations that come her way. She is nursing some little babies back to health at the moment. Such hard work but what a privilege.

This week it was my turn to choose an image for myself and teamie Choccie to use. I needed to make another wedding card so am using the cute image Wedding Bears by Reece’s Scrap Pieces. In the pack you get the image in colour for quick cards and black and white if you like to colour as I do. I used Promarkers and Flexmarkers to colour the image in, cut  it out and mounted onto 3d foam pads.

The base of the card is a sheet of patterned cardstock from Hunky Dory. It is the 1st time I have used their cardstock and I have to say I am impressed with how sturdy it is.  I have added some ‘ribbon’ which is actually a shoe lace from a pack of patterned ones in different lengths that came from the local pound shop some time ago. It is amazing what you can pick up from places that you can utilize in your crafting if you just look at it a different way.

The background paper is a wrapping paper which has holographic elements to it. I used a Crafter’s Companion die to cut it out, added some scrap cardstock on the back to strengthen it and mounted on foam squares for added dimension.

The ‘Just Married’ plaque is an embellishment I have had in my stash for at least 4 years. I’d had it so long that the sticky stuff on the back was no longer sticky (I am sure we all have embellishments that has happened to!) The top was looking a bit bare so I used my Martha Stewart Heart Lattice punch on a scrap of pink card and mounted it onto some really shiny silver paper (which looks white in the photo but I promise you it isn’t!)

Happy Father's Day

Today is Father’s Day and I made this card for my Father in Law who is a golfing fanatic. The image is actually a combination of 3 different digis. The Golf Background is from Digital Designs by Louby Lou and I thought it was perfect, you see many images that are golf themed but not often do you get a background image so I had to buy it. The character is AKV Golf Bag from Bugaboo Digi Stamps and I have decoupaged many of the elements. Eventhough this is an A5 card let me tell you those golf clubs are still tiny!

I used the golf ball from a larger image Golf Ball & Pole by DigiDarla Designs. The papers are from the Woodland Friends paper pack from Docrafts. I used the Fiskars border punch on the edges and the sentiment is a freebie from Hanelie at Desert Diva. If you have never visited her you seriously need to become a follower as she does the most amazing freebie sentiments and makes lovely cards too. Thankyou Hanelie for your generosity J

We are taking Dad out for a curry to our favourite Indian Restaurant tonight so that is tea sorted too!

Materials Used in this Project are as follows:-

Card size – A5
Paper – Woodland Friends from Docrafts
Tools – Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers, Fiskars Treading Water border punch, 3d foam
Techniques – Decoupage & Punching
