This week my card is using one for the 3 images from the Pallaria set by Beary Dust Designs. I shoes to use this one as the fairy is flying and that enabled me to use the perfect sentiment to go with it.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers adding lots of stickles glitter. I chose purples for my colour palette so that I could match it up with these pretty papers with flowers and butterflies on.

I used a sketch from The Sketchy Challenge for the layout, matting and layering with some purple and white card throughout. I used a Nellie Snellen die for the doily which protrudes from the corner. The sentiment is a freebie from Vibygor Krafts and has been cut using a Quickutz Cookie Cutter die. I used a Fiskars border punch and my Martha Stewart butterfly punch with lots of self adhesive gems for decoration. Finally I added some gems to the image and my purple fairy is complete.

TSC Birthday Bash

The Stamping Chef has a weekly progressive freebie competition on their Facebook page TSC Recipes.

You email for the image, which is this case is Birthday Bash, you upload a card in the folder, you get lots of lovely comments from some very nice people and the chance to win a free image. If you ask for the freebie you MUST make a card with it though or you will not be allowed to get freebies again, it’s only fair J

I coloured the image with Promarkers using zingy colours of lime green, orange, yellow, red and a spot of brown for contrast. The image has been fussy cut and mounted on 3d foam. I used a die to cut the lacey panel and added some glitter card under the image.

I used the latest sketch from I {Heart} Card Sketches for the layout. The base gingham paper is from a freebie pad with a magazine. The orange and brown are from Desert Blooms First Edition pad and the flowery paper is from the Hideaway pad. All except the base layer are snippets including all the cardstock used for matting and layering. I used a Fiskars border punch on some more glitter card and am so glad it was sunny today so you can see all the different glitters.

I added some Glamour dust to parts of the image, a sentiment from Craftwork Cards and some 3d cardstock stickers from a Forever Friends sheet.

If you don’t take part in the challenges on Facebook you are missing out on some lovely free images so I hope you will pop over there and join in the fun.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – 6” Square
Image – Birthday Bash by The Stamping Chef

Lady Anne's Christmas Progressive Challenge #1

Lady Anne is running a Christmas Progressive Freebie Challenge. I signed up for it and got 2 fabulous images from Crafting With Jack.

One was a Bethlehem image and as I do not like to use religious images I decided to opt for this traditional Candle Display. I didn’t like poinsettia very much but I the last year I have really enjoyed colouring them and making cards, see I open to change J

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers then cut it out very close to the image and mounted 3d foam squares.

I used sketch #5 from I {Heart} Sketches for the layout. The red card blank has been covered with a music score paper from a traditional Christmas pack Christmas Tidings by Papermania leaving a thin border of red showing.

For the circular element of the sketch I used a die to cut a doily out of gold card and threaded an offcut of dotty ribbon through it. The sentiment is from my ever faithful old Christmas stash and I added a candy cane epoxy sticker which I have had for many years.

I am very much looking forward to using the next images and I happy to see my pile of Christmas cards increasing J

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-

Card Size – A6
Image – Candle Display by Crafting With Jack
Paper – Christmas Tidings by Papermania
Embelishments – Ribbon, epoxy sticker, sentiment
Tools – Letraset Promarkers & Flexmarkers,, Nellie Multiframe Die

Daisy's Image Inspirations

Over at

our challenges run fortnightly so on the off Wednesday the Designers will be creating with a specially selected digi from the Daisy Doodles Store.

The image we are working with today is Lily of The Valley. It is one of the newer images and it is available from the store for only $2. You get the image in TIFF, PNG & JPG formats. The DT have made some smashing cards using these images.

I coloured the image with Promarkers & Flexmarkers using a very pale grey to create a background to make the white in the flowers pop out better. This is matted onto dark green cardstock and mounted with 3d foam for dimension.

The dark green card base is coverd with a muted paidly patterned paper. I have used a couple of different shades of green for the layers, used a Nellie Snellen die for the doily and wrapped lace and ribbon around the long piece of card. I added 3 sequin flowers and pearl centres and the butterfly and pearl heart was recycled from a store bought birthday card.

I hope you will pop over to the blog to see the lovely creations on there and please remember that you have until Sunday night to get your entries in for our Beary Cute challenge

I'll see you again next week with another lovely Daisy Doodles design.

Materials Used in this card are as follows:-
Card Size – A5
Patterned Paper – First Edition pad by Dovecraft
Embellishments – Ribbon & lace, sequin flowers, pearls, recycled butterfly and heart

It was my turn to choose and image for myself and Choccy to work with and I decided I wanted to do something a little different this time. May I introduce you to the extremely elegant Lady Jane from Stitchy Stamps. Oh that I could look so elegant in a smashing hat like that……

Now I have to admit with a very hectic life at Casa Cruxton at the moment I have been struggling with crafty time and my mojo had disappeared. In times like this one has to clamour for inspiration from whatever sources you can.

The colour inspiration for this card came from a pair of knickers…… yes you did hear right, a pair of knickers! I wouldn’t normally mention such things you understand but in this particular pair it has the very vibrant blue overlaid by a patterned lace in the dark blue and you can see the brighter colour underneath with a small accent bow in the more vibrant blue. Armed with said knickers I set to work selecting my Promarker colours and did a bit of decoupage on the gorgeous titfer. I added some stickles glitter glue on the feathers and the jewellery. I cut the image out using a Nellie Snellen die and a frame in dark blue card. I snipped the scallops off the image and scuffed the edges with a pair of scissors.

Now with crafty mojo temporarily deserting me I did what any crafter would do….. popped some things in my shopping basket. Crafts 4 you are having a closing down sale and amongst other things some pretty My Minds Eye papers just happened to fall into my basket. I thought this dainty pattern in tones of blue would be a nice contrast to the bolder colours. Then would you know it I finds out there are some special Summer colour Promarkers which I just had to purchase from Joanna Sheen and look what fell in my basket….. a gorgeous Cheery Lynn die that I have lusted over. In this case I feel that this elegant swirl is the perfect compliment for this card and therefore fully justifies my purchase.

To complete this card I have used a very old mottled vellum as the base paper which I must have had for at least 6 years, all the other cardstock is snippets from my craft box I have alongside me at all times. It is quite a large box but I make a point of rifling through this for matting and layering bits before I cut anything else up. There are still huge amounts in there but I always feel that if I use up even one piece from there I have made some inroads, so with 3 pieces I am feeling almost angelic J

The ribbon is a freebie from a magazine, the felt butterfly from the pound shop, self adhesive pearls from K & Co and the sentiment circle is from Craftwork Cards.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 24

For the latest challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers we have been encouraged to have inky finkers and uses ink in one form or another.

I have opted to used my tried and trusted Tim Holtz pad to do some distressing. I had been given a load of greetings cards to recycle and found this fabulous foiled tree and leaf border. I used the distressing pad to rub over the tree to help define the embossed texture and also on the edges of the papers and card blank. The Hampstead papers from Papermania are perfect for this as the colours are autumnal. The mat is a Nellie Snellen frame which has been edged in gold pen and last but not least I used 2 colours of ink to darken the Docrafts 'scrabble' letters as they were a bit too clean looking and didn't suit the card.

Some of the girls have done some amazing projects and I would really encourage you to go take a look at them. It would be great to see you join in our challenges and I look forward to visiting your bogs and seeing your work.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge # 19

It's challenge #19 over at Crafty Cardmakers and we are challenging you to make your card from the items you would take with you on a desert island.

Ideally, of course I would NEED to take my computer but I'm guessing power could be a problem so that means digi stamps would be out so of course it would have to be rubber stamps so I could colour them in with my trusty Promarkers and Twinkling H20's.

Another absolute must is yummy papers. These ones are from My Minds Eye and the pale green is a Papermania one. I would have to take my Big Shot and Nellie Snellen dies. I have only a couple of sets so far but love them so much and they make a matted layer look so much fancier.

Ribbon, anyone who knows me knows I love ribbon and have a pretty large collection. I am lucky living in Birmingham as we have the Rag Market and it is great for buying cheap ribbons and lace trims and I love having a mooch round there from time to time.

Flowers, of any type must really feature somewhere. These larger blooms were a magazine freebie and the paper cherry blossom was from a seller on Ebay. My very good friend Lisa recommended buying cream ones and colouring Promarkers. I am very pleased with the results.

Last but not least, everyone needs a bit of bling. In this case it is in the form of glitter on the papers themselves. Quite subtle for me LOL

This card is currently winging it's way to a very special friend. Hope she likes it :)

I hope you will join on our desert island. It would be great to see what 'Must Haves' you all take and whether there is anything new I NEED to buy.
