This is my last challenge to be teamed up with Ali and she chose this image Lady Klimt esq to use by Hope Jacare Doodles. Now I have to be very honest and say when I first saw it I didn’t have a clue what to do with it and it is not an image I would have chosen for myself. However, that is one of the greatest things about taking it in turns to choose an image for your partner as it makes you go out of your comfort zone. As a result I am so very proud of how his card has turned out.

Having done a bit of research on the tinterweb I found a lot of Klimt’s paintings were in ochres, greens and autumn shades so I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers to suit. I then used Distress Ink pads in light brown and green and stippled around the edge to create a soft background and blend the colours together at the bottom. I matted the image onto brown card.

The base card is Kraft and the green swirly paper is from the Daydreamer First Edition pad by Dovecraft. I used the last of a sheet of bronze embossed swirl card by Kanban for the lower part of the card. The sentiment is a freebie by Ginger’s House and I felt it matched the wistfulness of the image. I used a nestabilities die to cut it out and a Krylon gold pen to go round the edge. I used a new Cheery Lynn die Pricess Tree to cut some glitter paper by Papermania (yes I got covered in glitter…) It is the first time I used this die and I was impressed how clean the cuts were and it was quite a thick awkward paper to cut through. The glitter flowers and gems rae also by Papermania.

So Ali Thank You for making me work with this image. Through my research I learnt a lot about the Klimt style and realised that some of his recurring themes such as the swirls and tree of life originated from his paintings and are in fact ones that I really like to use myself. It also goes to prove that if you are taken out of your comfort zone, these works of art are some of those which you are most proud of.

For this project I used this great set from Digi Blessings called Tammy Tween Girls Rule which has 1 image and 3 sentiments, perfectly suited to a sassy teenage girl.

I bought a stationery set and decorated all the items using elements from the digi set. For the pencil tin I covered the top with the paper and used a sequin trim on the edges to add a bit of girly bling J Using colours from the paper I coloured the image and sentiments, cut them out and ran through my Xyron sticker maker.

The rubber I coverd with a srap of the paper and added a sentiment. I liked the duh as it seemed quite appropriate if you had made a mistake and needed to rub something out…..
I added the same sentiment to the pencil sharperner popping some more of the sequin trim around it. On the ruler I covered it with some more of the paper and added the ‘whatever’ sentiment to it, typical teenage wording!

Daisy Doodles #66 Back To School

Over at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges we have a new challenge today

Back To School

*********************************************

For my card I have combined the Rule, books & Pencil image from the Schooltime set.  This fantastic set has 6 images and comes in 3 formats for only $3.

Head over to the Daisy Doodles Store to check these out and all the other great digi’s that are available !

I coloured my images in with Promakers & Flexmarkers, cut them out and ran through my Xyron machine ready to stick on to my finished notebook.

The notebook started life as zebra print with a bright pink spine so I covered it using a snake textured wrapping paper, sticking it on well with loads of red line tape.

The panel of patterned paper is a leftover snippet from a Creative Cardmaking magazine and to this I then added the images. Et voila, finished notebook J

I hope you will pop over to the blog to see the lovely creations on there from the rest of the DT and we look forward to seeing your entries in for our Back To School Challenge

I'll see you again next time with another lovely Daisy Doodles design.

I have been teamed up with Ali for the next few collaborations and I chose Lucy Goes Skateing by Reece’s Scrap Pieces for us to work with. Nothing like making a Christmas card when we’ve finally got some sunshine eh?

I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers in shades of blue adding some grey for the books and Silver metallic Promarker for the blades.

All papers and card for matting are snippets. The snowflake paper is a wrapping paper from Paperchase and it is one of my fave Christmas papers. The blue glitter paper is from Craftime. I did try to punch it but my poor little Fiskars punch got so jammed I had to put it in the freezer to release it……

I finished off with a Kanban sentiment, Stickles glitter glue on the snowflake, some silver metal snowflakes and tiny blue gems.

For this challenge I have used this gorgeous image Fairy Fae by DeliciousDoodles. I absolutely adore butterflies and this image reminds me of my visit to the butterfly farm in Stratford Upon Avon. If you stand still you may be lucky enough that they land on you. Once I had 4 on me all at the same time and it is just magical to feel so connected to them.

As soon as I saw this image I knew it had to be purples. I am very fortunate to have the full set of all available Promarkers and Flexmarkers so I have lots of shades of purple to choose from J I even coloured the hair in purple, something I have never done before.

I used a lovely paper pad called Dreamcatcher by First Edition and added a scrap of lilac card which has been embossed with a Crafts Too folder and inked with a small Versamark pad.
The flower has been made with a Sizzix Die, a leather swatch, white glitter card and a jewel brad by Papermania. I added some Stickles glitter glue and Glossy accents to the image and a sentiment from my stash.
